ThinfastMD is a medical practice, not a pharmacy. What you are paying for is a physician’s time and judgement — an examination, an EKG, labs, and a plan built around what those actually show. Here is what that costs, and what anything else might cost if it turns out you need it.
Your first visit
One price. Everything below is included — there is nothing else to pay to be seen.
- Initial consultation with the medical team
- Physical exam
- Vitals
- Onsite EKG
- Baseline lab work
- A treatment plan built for you
What happens after that is a clinical decision, not a menu
Weight is not one problem with one answer. Thyroid function, medications you already take, PCOS, menopause, sleep, blood sugar and your own history all change what will actually work. That is what the exam, the EKG and the labs are for.
Depending on what your physician finds, your plan may involve any of these — on their own, or combined:
Nutrition and behaviour support
Registered dietitian–led. The part that decides whether weight stays off, with or without medication.
OPTIFAST® meal replacement
A structured, medically monitored programme with published clinical results. ThinfastMD has run it since long before GLP-1s existed.
Prescription appetite suppressants
Phentermine and related medications, prescribed and monitored by a physician.
GLP-1 medication
Semaglutide or tirzepatide, if it is clinically appropriate for you. It is one option among several, not the default.
Most people do not leave with everything. You leave with what your physician thinks will work for you — and if that turns out to be nutrition support and a follow-up rather than an injection, that is a good outcome, not a lesser one.
If medication is part of your plan
We publish these so nothing is a surprise at the desk — not as an offer to shop. Medication is dispensed only when a ThinfastMD physician has examined you and decided it is appropriate.
| Added to your visit | First month |
|---|---|
| Compounded semaglutide GLP-1, once-weekly injection · 4 weeks · any starting dose | $95 |
| Compounded tirzepatide GLP-1/GIP, once-weekly injection · 4 weeks · any starting dose | $145 |
One flat price whatever dose you start on — your cost does not climb as your dose is adjusted during that first month. Added to the $159 visit, not instead of it.
You will not be overcharged
If you find a lower price for a comparable medication and dose at a licensed clinic within five miles of your ThinfastMD location, bring us the written price and we will match it or beat it — every month you are with us, not just the first.
Written or printed quote required, dated within 30 days, for the same medication at a comparable dose and supply length, from a licensed clinic within five miles of the ThinfastMD location you attend. Verified at your visit. Cannot be combined with other offers.
After your first month
We are not going to print a number here that might not be yours. If you continue on medication, ongoing cost depends on the dose you settle at — and that is decided by how you respond over those first four weeks, not in advance.
You are told your exact ongoing price at your visit, before you commit to anything. There is no subscription, no auto-renewal, and nothing to cancel. The price promise above applies for as long as you are with us.
About compounded medication
The medication prices above are for compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide, prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. They are not the brand-name products — Wegovy®, Ozempic®, Zepbound® and Mounjaro® are made by Novo Nordisk and Eli Lilly and typically retail for roughly $1,000–$1,600 a month without insurance.
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality the way brand-name drugs are. They are prescribed at a licensed clinician’s discretion for an individual patient. You should know exactly what you are being prescribed, which is why this is here and not in the small print.
If you would prefer a brand-name product, or you have insurance that may cover one, say so at your visit and we will talk through the options and what prior authorization involves.
Common questions
Do I have to buy medication?
No. The $159 visit is the service. Medication is prescribed only if your physician concludes it is appropriate for you, and plenty of patients are treated successfully without it — through OPTIFAST®, appetite suppressants, or nutrition and behaviour support. You are never charged for medication that is not prescribed.
What if I do not qualify for a GLP-1?
Then your physician builds a plan that does not include one. ThinfastMD has treated weight medically since 1984, decades before these medications existed. Not qualifying is not the end of the conversation — it just changes which tool is right.
Why is the medication so much cheaper than Wegovy or Zepbound?
Because it is not the same product. Wegovy® and Zepbound® are FDA-approved brand-name medications and retail for roughly $1,000–$1,600 a month without insurance. The prices above are for compounded semaglutide and tirzepatide from a licensed compounding pharmacy, which are not FDA-approved. Different product, different price.
Does the medication price go up as my dose goes up?
Not during your first month — that is one flat price at any starting dose, so your cost does not climb while your dose is being adjusted. After the first month, ongoing cost does depend on your dose, and you are given your exact number at your visit before committing.
Is any of this covered by insurance?
Compounded medications are generally not covered, and these are self-pay prices. Some elements of a visit may be billable depending on your plan, and brand-name products may be covered with prior authorization. Bring your insurance details and we will tell you honestly what applies rather than guess.
What is not included in the $159?
Follow-up visits after your first month, repeat lab work beyond your baseline panel, medication, and other programmes such as OPTIFAST® products, appetite suppressants or wellness injections. There is no membership fee and no subscription.
